LETTER TO THE EDITOR: An Open Letter from Baghdad from Paul Chapman
I’m a former WV State Trooper, U.S. Army veteran from the 101st Airborne
Division, currently in Baghdad. I’ve served in 4 war-torn countries in the
past 6 years, and have recruited and trained police and border patrol
officers in Kosovo and Afghanistan, and headed teams setting in place
security measures at US Embassy projects in the Ivory Coast and now Baghdad.
Nick Rahall once called me “more dangerous than the 9/11 terrorists that
flew into the World Trade Center,” after I drew attention to his connections
with and contributions from radical Islamic concerns. I sued him in
Federal Court for slander and defamation of character. I see that he has
once again tried to slander a good and courageous American who has dared to
challenge him, though Rahall won’t face his challenger in a public forum to
address many of the same issues I tried to bring to light.
Sheriff Kim Wolfe is, like me, a veteran and a lifetime public servant. His
character and motivation are beyond reproach, and someone like Rahall cannot
understand and feels threatened by someone who desires to serve for the
right reasons.
Nick Rahall has consistently voted against the fight against terrorism and
sought to keep us dependent on and vulnerable to middle eastern interests.
We risk our lives daily in Baghdad to fight terrorism. Rahall came to
Baghdad on the anniversary of 9/11, and the Baghdad newspaper headline
declared: Congressman Nick Rahall (D - WV) arrives in Iraq, criticizes "US
war rhetoric."
On behalf of my brothers and sisters who serve beside me every day in the
fight against terror,
I urge my fellow West Virginians to vote for a true and honest patriot, Kim
Wolfe, and dethrone Rahall from his 30-year reign of terror.
