LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Rahall Takes Incumbency for Granted; Kim Wolfe Can Change Things for 3rd District

In the race between incumbent Rep. Nick Rahall and Kim Wolfe for the 3rd congressional district, Rahall takes for granted that his 30 years in congress is enough to get him re-elected.

The fact is, he is the representative of one of the poorest districts in the poorest state in the nation, hovering near the bottom in nearly every important category including unemployment, education, health care, business and investment climate, etc.

So what has Rahall really accomplished for us in his many years in Washington? He may get a new building started here or a bridge there. He may do some personal favors such as find someone’s lost Social Security check or recommend a student for a military academy. But these are minimal efforts expected of every representative. Where it really counts, in turning around our district’s deplorable condition, he has achieved very little.

It’s long past time to replace Rahall with someone who can effectively change this dreadful performance. Kim Wolfe is that person. He will promptly establish himself and earn the respect of his fellow representatives. As someone of proven ability and character, he will quickly achieve what has been lacking over these last thirty years.
