Bluefield, WV (BNN) -- Timothy Dowell Sr. from Bluefield was re-sentenced
Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 in federal court to ten years and one month for
distribution of crack cocaine. Dowell was convicted in June of 2004 for
distributing the illegal drug in December 2003. The case came back for
re-sentencing because of the Booker case that came before the US Supreme
Court stipulating that Federal sentencing guidelines were not mandatory.
Nevertheless, Judge Faber let the original sentence stand.
In Judge Faber’s court Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, Kenneth Godsay of Bluefield
pled guilty to mailing a threatening letter. This is a Federal offense. He
could serve up to five years in the Federal Penitentiary for this offence.
Sentencing will be scheduled for early January.
