Woman Dies in Bluefield, WV Apartment Fire

Bluefield, WV (BNN) – A fire at the Mulberry Apartments on Bluefield's west end claimed the life of a middle aged woman Sunday October 22, 2006 about 6 a.m. Identification of the woman was not available. Ten people were evacuated from the complex. The Bluefield Fire Department responded within minutes of the call and the state fire marshal was on the scene shortly after.
 
The Red Cross and the Bluefield Union Mission provided shelter, food and clothing for the evacuees. It is expected that residents of the building should be allowed to return no later than Monday, Oct. 23, 2006.
