Satterfield Speaks at Bluefield’s Downtown Merchants Meeting

Bluefield, WV (BNN) -- Bluefield's Beautification Commission Chairwoman,
Gail Satterfield, spoke at the monthly meeting of the Bluefield Downtown
Merchants Association Monday Oct. 23, 2006.
Satterfield (standing) discussed with the group some of the commission's
projects planned for the downtown that includes hanging baskets, banners, a
clock for Chickory Square, the return of the concrete planters on the stone
wall along Princeton Avenue, and a downtown Reindeer Forest just in time for
the holidays.
In the merchants business meeting plans were approved for surveillance
cameras for specific locations downtown. A committee was formed to work out
the camera details. The committee consists of Jerry James, Oretta Hubbard,
Mark Henne, and Joe Wilson.
The membership also approved moving the Annual Christmas Parade from the
second Saturday of December at 11:00 a.m. to the second Friday night at 6:00
p.m. This breaks with a more than fifty year tradition. In other business,
Mark Davis, director of the Arts Center, gave a list of upcoming events
scheduled at the Center that includes three art shows, an Abraham Lincoln
performance, and a tour of all the art galleries in downtown on December 9
