Lemonade Will be Served in the Two Bluefields Tuesday; Hinton Reaches 100 Degrees, but No Lemonade

By Craig Hammond

Temperatures reached 90 degrees Monday June 18, 2007 -- as clearly seen from the thermometer at First Community Bank in downtown Bluefield, WV. That means free lemonade will be served at six locations in the two Bluefields on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

Bluefield WV tops 90---free lemonade Monday

Ever since 1939, free lemonade has been served in "Nature's Air Conditioned City" the day following the day when the temperatures reach 90 degrees. It was served only twice in 2006, and there was a stretch of 33 years during which lemonade was never served. And it's still technically spring, with summer not arriving until Thursday.

Bluefield is truly a cool place to live, work, and play!

Free lemonade serving locations include Chickory Square in downtown Bluefield, Goodykoontz Drug Store in south Bluefield, Bluefield Plaza on Cumberland Road, and Wal-Mart Plaza and The Gazebo in Bluefield, Virginia.

Hinton hits 100 degrees on Monday june 18, 2007

Editor's Note: The outlook for Tuesday, June 19? Not so hot! But watch the thermometer. There is a cooling trend for the rest of the week, with temps in the high 70s. On Monday it reached 100 degrees in Hinton, which doesn't believe in free lemonade. (see photo). --David M. Kinchen
