RECALLS THIS WEEK: Sides on Simplicity Cribs Can Disengage...and More Recalls

Simplicity Inc. is recalling Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs sold nationwide from
August 2005 to May 2007. The assembly instructions provided with the cribs
incorrectly instruct consumers how to attach the crib’s drop side. If
improperly installed, the drop side can disengage from the crib, posing fall
and entrapment hazards. Additionally, the metal locking pins on the drop
side can pop off, presenting a choking hazard.
The recalled cribs are part of the Nursery-in-a-Box furniture set which also
includes a changing table and clothing organizer. Only model numbers 8910
and 8050 with serial numbers 3005 HY through 0806 HY are included in this
recall. The model and serial numbers are printed on an envelope permanently
attached to the mattress support. “Simplicity,” model and serial numbers are
also printed on a label on the bottom rail of the headboard.

CRANKSETS ON CANNONDALE BICYCLES CAN BREAK
Cannondale Bicycle is recalling Bicycles with Carbon Cranksets sold
nationwide from June 2006 to May 2007. The bicycle’s crankset could break,
posing a fall hazard.
Cranksets are the gears at the front of the bicycle chain with pedals

GENERAL ELECTRIC GAS RANGES HAVE DESIGN FLAW
GE Consumer & Industrial, of Louisville, Ky. is recalling GE Monogram®
Professional Gas Ranges sold nationwide from October 2005 to February 2007.
These ranges have a design flaw that can cause an electrical arc between the
wiring and griddle gas supply tube, posing a fire hazard.
This recall includes 36-inch and 48-inch stainless steel Monogram Pro ranges
with griddles. They are fueled either by LP or natural gas and manufactured
from October 2005 through May 16, 2006. The recall includes the following
ranges: Models ZDP48N6DHSS, ZDP48L6DHSS, ZDP36N4DHSS and ZDP36L4DHSS. A list

COOKTOPS POSE FIRE HAZARD
BSH Home Appliances Corp. of Huntington Beach, Calif. is recalling
Thermador® Ceramic Cooktops sold nationwide from October 2006 to March 2007.
The cooktop can come on by itself when switched off, creating a fire hazard.
The cooktop has electric and induction heating elements with a black ceramic
glass surface. This recall involves model numbers CIT302DS/01 and
CIT362DS/01 with date codes between 8606 and 8612. The model number and date
code can be found on the underside of the cooktop.

INFANT LONG JOHNS POSE CHOKING HAZARD
Personal Creations, of Lemont, Ill. is recalling Red Baby Long Johns sold
nationwide from September 2006 to January 2007. The metal snaps on the long
johns can loosen and detach, posing a choking hazard.
The recalled Baby Long Johns are red with snap fasteners down the front and
along the legs. A personalized embroidery is stitched across the button-up
back flap on the long johns. The long johns were sold in sizes 6, 12, 18 and
24 months.

EYEBALL TOYS CONTAIN KEROSENE
Gemmy Industries Corp. is recalling Floating Eyeballs sold nationwide during
July 2006.
The plastic eyeball contains kerosene, which if broken, presents a chemical
hazard.
The product is a plastic flashing eyeball toy filled with liquid. The model
numbers of this product are: 27828, 27544 and 06470. The model number is
found on the back of the packaging. The writing on the packaging reads,
“FLASHING EVIL EYE,” and “TRY ME!”
Consumers should return the item to the store for a full refund.

PARTY HATS POSE CHOKING HAZARD
Creative Expressions is recalling Children’s Party Hats sold nationwide from
February 2005 to May 2007. Foil fringe glued to the bottom edge of the party
hats can detach, posing a choking hazard.
The paper party hats involved in this recall measure 6.5-inches high by
4.5-inches wide and are cone shaped. The blue paper hats have “1st” printed
on the front and blue foil fringe glued to the bottom.
