CONSUMER NEWS Lewisburg, Rainelle Offer Best WV Gas Prices; No More Below-$2 Prices—for Now, At Least

Hinton, WV (HNN) – Below $2 a gallon gasoline remained history in northern West Virginia for the second straight week, with the lowest price in the northern part of the state $2.19 a gallon at the BP and Sheetz in Charles Town on Sunday, Dec.18, 2005.
 
The best price in the Parkersburg area was across the river in Marietta, OH, $2.21 at the Speedway station. This compares with $1.96 a gallon at the Chevron station in Parkersburg and $1.96 a gallon in Vienna’s Speedway two weeks ago; in Hinton regular gasoline at the Exxon stations, Cargo and Go Mart was priced at $2.29 a gallon on Sunday, Dec. 18, up from $2.19 a gallon last week. The lowest price in Hinton was at Grandpa’s General store on the bypass, at $2.21 a gallon.
 
Checking with http://www.westvirginiagasprices.com I found that the lowest prices statewide were in Rainelle and Lewisburg in Greenbrier County. The Shell and Go Mart stations in Lewisburg had gas at $2.17, up from $2.12 last week.
 
The Go Mart and Chevron in Rainelle on Sunday, Dec. 18 had regular at $2.19, up from $2.12 last week. The $2.19 price prevailed in Hurricane at the BP station and in Huntington at the Chevron station. The Exxon station in Morgantown on Dec. 18 had regular at $2.39 a gallon. BP, Exxon and Speedway in Huntington had regular at $2.35 a gallon on Dec. 18.
 
The Flying J in Catlettsburg, KY had regular at $2.14 a gallon on Sunday, Dec. 18, up from $2.07 a gallon last week and $1.84 a gallon two weeks ago. Charleston area gasoline prices on Dec. 18, 2005 ranged from $2.19 to more than $2.35 a gallon, with the higher prices generally in Charleston proper and the lower prices at stations in Jefferson, Nitro, Cross Lanes and Teays Valley. Examples: Oliver in Jefferson, $2.19; Pilot, Nitro, $2.25, up from $2.13 a gallon last week; Go Mart, Kanawha City, $2.28; Shop ‘n’Go, Charleston,$2.28 a gallon.
