Callaghan Race Added to DCCC’s Watch List

Charleston, WV (HNN) – Mike Callaghan, Democratic Congressional candidate (Second District), had his race added on Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) “Emerging Race” watch list. The addition to the list is expected to increase campaign fundraising and garner national media attention. The DCCC is a national organization aimed at helping Democratic House candidates in their bids to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and is headed by Illinois Representative Rahm Emanuel (IL-5). “This is very exciting for us. Finally, what we’ve known around here has reached ears in Washington,” Callaghan campaign manager, Curtis Wilkerson said. “With so many of the House races going solidly Democrat, it is opening up more help to other competitive races across the country. We’re fortunate to be one of them. Adding that to the fact that the RNC has pulled out of helping West Virginia races, we know we’re going to win on Nov. 7.”
