Callaghan Campaign Calls for Another Debate
From Mike Callaghan for Congress Press Release
Charleston, WV (HNN) – Mike Callaghan, Democratic Congressional candidate
(Second District), is calling for another debate with his opponent, U.S.
Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, in a letter sent to her campaign headquarters
this week.
The proposed debate will take place in Charleston sometime next week if
Capito accepts the invitation. “We’re working on securing a location right
now,” said Curtis Wilkerson, Callaghan’s campaign manager.
“The plan is for the debate questions to come from the public. The voters
deserve to hear about issues important to them, and this is a great way to
have that happen,” Wilkerson said. “We also plan for the candidates to have
rebuttal responses so the issues can be thoroughly discussed.”
Wilkerson noted that no media outlets would be sponsoring the event, but
they were welcome to attend. “This debate will be open to everyone, and
hopefully everyone will get the opportunity to come out and be a part of it.
We’re just waiting to hear back from the Congresswoman’s campaign.
Hopefully, she will participate.”
