Gen. Wesley K. Clark Endorses Mike Callaghan, Citing Candidate’s ‘Common
Sense Solutions for WV’
By HNN Staff
Little Rock, AR (HNN) – Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Gen. Wesley
K. Clark on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 endorsed the candidacy of Mike Callaghan
for Congress in West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.
General Clark said, “American families face many difficult challenges at
home and abroad. There has never been a time when foreign affairs were as
closely linked to our daily lives as they are now. We are fighting the
causes of terrorism that threaten our homes and we must prepare for a
changing global economy that demands America train our people to compete for
the highest paying jobs. That is exactly why we need Mike Callaghan in
Congress to fight for us in Washington, DC, and I am pleased to endorse him
today.
“What impresses me about Mike is not just his awareness and deep knowledge
of the critical problems that face America today, but his ability to also
put forth strong, viable considerations of what can be done to solve them.
It’s easy to create a laundry list, but Mike’s analyses and proposals on a
wide range of matters such as Iraq, the war on terrorism, the budget
deficit, Social Security, prescription drugs for seniors, immigration
reform, health care, education, and jobs, are worth a close look by our
nation’s leadership. I am also impressed with Mike’s ability, in his
position as Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection, to seek
a fair balance between West Virginia’s industries and the protection of its
magnificent natural beauty. Mike’s solution-oriented focus is exactly what
is needed now more than ever in Congress.
“In voting for West Virginia’s native son, Mike Callaghan, citizens have an
opportunity to turn things around now before it’s too late. To change
politics-as-usual in Washington, we have to vote for someone besides the
usual politicians,” said General Clark.
Gen. Wesley K. Clark is a retired four-star general and served as the
