A power outage affected a swath of Cabell, Kanawha, Putnam and Mason counties Friday night.
According to Appalachian Power’s Storm Outage map and data chart on their website, 621 customers in Cabell, 1,277 in Kanawha, 372 in Mason and 104 in Putnam county were affected. The largest percentage of customers hit was in Mason county, with over 2% without power. Cabell and Kanawha both had a little over 1% of American Electric Power customers affected and Putnam had less than 1% out. No cause was given and no AEP representatives were available Friday evening to explain.
A storm that was part of a severe thunderstorm that brought damaging hail and lightning to parts of Ohio had passed through the area Friday afternoon, but there was no way to determine if that was the cause of the outage. The power was restored about 11:30pm., after being out for several hours.
